imgTag

Static Page.

Jędrek Kostecki originally created this extension to help him with his photoblog.

imgTag allows you to quickly generate XHTML-friendly <img src=”…” /> tags from (almost*) any image viewed from within Firefox. After imgTag is installed a new context menu option to “Make <img /> tag” will appear any time an image is right-clicked. When selected an img tag is generated and coppied to the clipboard which is ready for pasting. You can then paste it anywhere, to your blog, some message boards or repeatedly throughout a text file if it suits you. But it works best anywhere HTML markup is allowed.

* “Almost”, meaning: if you can directly view the image on a site, you should be able to create an img tag out of it.

Known Issues

It has been tested under Windows, a few variants of *nix and OS X, so in theory it should work anywhere Firefox does. If it doesn’t then let me know.

Current Version History:

0.3.8 – Added: Four more localizations now supported – German (de-DE), Spanish (es-ES), Russian (ru-RU) and Serbian (sr-RS). Bumped the version number from 3.6a2pre to 3.6.* which will hopefully work when Firefox 3.6 is released.

0.3.7 – Added: Several more localizations have been included thanks to additional BabelZilla support – Danish (da-DK), French (fr), Macedonian (mk-MK), Dutch (nl-NL), Portugese [Brazilian](pt-BR) and Chinese [Simplified] (zh-CN)

0.3.6 – Fixed: Took over authoring to get imgTag onto addons.mozilla.org for future updates. Major restructuring took place in order to make it more future-proof and easier to update in newer versions of Firefox. imgTag version 0.3.6 also has included support for Japanese (ja) and Polish (pl-PL) localizations. Additionally, more localizations can be added now with minimal effort.
